Spark Story Bible

Pre-school (ages 2 - Kindergartners)

Parents are welcome to stay with their children for Pre-school. There are two experienced Pre-school teachers for each of our Pre-school classes. They love to find new ways to involve children in the lesson which is alwaysbased on a biblicalstory. There's even time to sing together! All students receive a Spark Story Bible which has colorful pictures and simplified versions of stories in the Old and New Testaments for parents to read to children and for young readers to begin to learn to read on their own!

Multi-age (Grades 1 - 6)

Our SundaySchool Program uses the Spark Curriculum. Its lectionary based so that each week the same lesson children learn they hear during worship. Students in grades 1-2 meet together and students in grades 3-6 meet in a multi-age classroom.

Adult Education

On Sundays between services we offer adult education programing. Currently we are using the Book of Faith curriculum from the ELCA and studying People of Faith. This group meets in the Dinning Room from 9:00-10:00 (Summers) or 9:15-10:15 (Sept-May).

Confirmation

Most Lutheran churches have an education program for middle-high school students called confirmation. At Grace, the point of our education program is to offer students worship, education, service, and fellowship experiences designed to encourage them to say YES to the love of God that was promised to them in their baptisms.

Students usually begin Confirmation as 7th graders and usually includes three years. If necessary, we adjust the program so newcomers can start at any grade.

Confirmation includes:

  • 1 class a week during the school year taught by our Parish Educator, Tauna Roth.
  • 2 service projects a year
  • 4 Confirmation Sunday School classes a year after worship (Topics: Old and New Testaments, The Ten Commandments, Faith and Science, World Religions, etc.)
  • 16 sermon notes a year
  • Participation in 1 week of Confirmation Camp OR at one of our annual Mission Trips.
  • Serve once a month or so as an usher, acolyte (candle lighter!), or as a member of Altar Guild (do dishes for the Lord's Supper!).

Mentoring:

The summer before 10th grade, Confirmation students are matched with a mentor. Mentors and students worship and serve together that summer and fall reflecting together about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

During the fall of 10th grade, Confirmation students spend a Saturday morning with the pastors reviewing their confirmation experience and talking about how they might use their special gifts as a disciple of Jesus. The actual Confirmation service is usually the next day.

If you have any questions about the Confirmation program at Grace, please contact Pastor Julie or Pastor Larry at 920 432 0308 or pastorlarry@gracegb.org or pastorjulie@gracegb.org .
