St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter

St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter seeks to provide night-to-night temporary emergency shelter to adult men and women from November 1st, 2011 to May 1st, 2012.
In 2008 the shelter hosted 280 individuals: 237 men and 43 women.

Volunteer opportunities:

  • Provide hospitality
  • Prepare/provide meals
  • Organize supplies/donations
  • Maintain shelter facilities
  • Assist with administrative duties

N.E.W. Community Homeless Shelter

The N.E.W. Community Homeless Shelter provides shelter, meals, education resource referrals and support to homeless men and women. Thourgh their Community Meals Program, dinners are provided 365 days a year as well as lunches on weekends and holidays to any person in the community who is hungry.

Volunteer opportunities:

  • prepare and deliver food for monthly meal to the shelter
  • serve food at monthly meal
  • coordinate Grace's monthly contributions and meal service ministry

Ecumenical Partnership for Housing (EPH)

EPH is a organization composed of Green Bay Area churches working together to help homeless families by providing transitional housing through ownership of 11 family size apartments. Grace is a founding member congregation of EPH.

Volunteer Opportunities:

 

  • Serve as congregational representative on EPH Board of Directors
  • Serve on the Building Maintenance and Volunteer Coordination committee
  • Serve on the Housing Coordinator Committee

Give a Kid a Book Campaign

Members of Grace are asked at Christmas time to combat illiteracy and instill the joy of reading in disadvantaged children by donating new books through the Give a Kid a Book Campaign coordinated by the Brown County Library and Salvation Army.

Back to School Store

Each year members of Grace donate school supplies to the Green Bay Service League for the operation of their Back to School Store. Needs are publized through the congregational newsletter and bulletin. During the months of June and July, a labelled collection box can be found at church in the Narthex.

G.I.F.T. - Gathered in Faith Together

G.I.F.T. is a interfaith organization of congregations in the city of Green Bay who plan interfaith worship services Thanksgiving and for celebration of the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. The location of the worship services rotate between churches and the Jewish Synagogue. Gathered together we pray, listen and sing praises to God!
