Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry
Less than 10 years ago, Grace Lutheran Church gave away 100 bags of groceries each year. Now over 200 people stop by Grace every month to select food items that help them make ends meet for themselves or their families. Unless otherwise noted, the Food Pantry is open on the following days.
Tuesdays, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Fridays, 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Here's how you can help
- On the Courtesy Desk in the Parlor, sign up to serve to welcome our Food Pantry visitors. If you haven't done this before, you'll receive simple instructions on the day you serve.
- Bring food items any time you come to church!
- Volunteer to help transport or sort food received from the Boy Scout and Letter Carrier food drives.
- Mark an offering for the Food Pantry. When we need to, we purchase food from Feeding America and local grocers for the Food Pantry.
- Participate in any of our food drive competitions. The present Food Drive Champions are those who worship on Saturday evenings!
Easter Dinner
Every Easter members of the congregation welcome anyone in our neighborhood to enjoy an Easter Dinner at Grace. Ham, scalloped potatoes, vegetables and dessert are always served up with smiles! To get in touch of those who are running the Easter Dinner this year, please contact Pastor Julie at 920-432-0308 or at pastorjulie@gracegb.org.
Equal Exchange Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate Sales
A Cup of Coffee isn't Just a Cup of Coffee!
The first weekend of every month* the lobby at Grace Lutheran Church becomes a tiny marketplace for small farmers all over the world to sell coffee, tea, hot chocolate, baking chocolate, and chocolate bars at prices that truly reflect their costs and that guarantee them a fair profit. These farmers are, in turn, able to invest in health and education projects in their communities. They also often receive help learning to farm organically and responsibly. When you buy the cheapest coffee in the store, you miss a tremendous opportunity to make a difference for good in the world!
*Except July and September, when it's the second weekend. Other exceptions may also apply. Please see our Calendar or call the Church Office at 920 432 0308.
Mission Sewing
Every third Thursday (except in December) women (and men!) of Grace gather at 8:30 a.m. in the North Basement to work for several hours making quilts, health kits, school kits, and layettes for Lutheran World Relief. Old clothing, sheets, and blankets are transformed by the hands of members of Grace into blessings for people who are refugees because of war, famine, or natural disasters all over the world.
Grace Full Hands
Can you knit? Would you like to learn? Would you like to create mission-related knitting, crocheting, or other handy work?
- Meets the 4th Sunday of each month in the Dining Room from 9:15 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
- Fun, fellowship, swap patterns - yarn and materials available for your use
Projects include
- Hats, mittens and scarves for our food pantry
- Baby sweaters for Lutheran World Relief layettes
- Afghans and prayer shawls for our Shut In's and Woodside Lutheran Home
Woodside Volunteers
The 2nd Sunday of every month Grace volunteers at Woodside Nursing Home. Activities include:
- Bringing the residents to Chapel and back to their rooms after Chapel
- Keeping an eye on the residents during the service
- Picking up bulletins if dropped
- Taking people back to their rooms as needed
If you would like to volunteer go to the main entrance of the nursing home (1040 Pilgrim Way) around 9:30am the 2nd Sunday of each month. The front desk is right there, and the Chapel is straight ahead. You will find the rest of the volunteers in the Chapel. They will walk you through the routine. We stay until all residents are returned to their rooms, which is around 11:15am. This is a very rewarding activity, and a great service project for Confirmation Students and their Mentors.
