Youth

Doughnut

Throughout the history of religion,

the circle has always been a symbol of the Eternal.

And so it is at Grace Lutheran Church

we have Holy Doughnuts.

Every Sunday, Youth from 7th graders to college students are welcome to hang out in Holy Doughnuts between our worship services.

No matter where you enter the building, just head downstairs and follow your nose to the Holy Grounds Coffeehouse where there's a lot of noise, because there are a lot of kids playing spoons or pool or ping pong and drinking Hawaiian Punch, and yes, eating lots of Holy Doughnuts!

Holy Doughnuts is the headquarters for our Youth program at Grace. Pastor Julie is there ready to challenge anyone to a game of pool or ping pong and to close the hour with her famous 3 minute devotion.

In Holy Doughnuts you can find out about upcoming Youth events, mission trips, service projects, etc. or contact Pastors Julie or Larry or Tauna Roth at 920 432 0308 or

Monthly Activities

There's always something going on in our youth program...lock-ins, trips to cultural and sporting events, servant events, fund-raisers, and our annual activities below. Please see the News Menu for up-to-date information.

Annual Activities

Shanty Town

Each year in Spring, for 8 years now, our youth and their chaperones try to learn something about what it's like to be homeless. In the green space near our parking lot, we camp out overnight in shelters made out of cardboard boxes. After a simple soup kitchen meal, we take a field trip to a local homeless ministry, do a service project, watch a movie on the topic of homelessness, and close our evening with reflections and devotions around a campfire in the church parking lot. Permission slips are available in Holy Grounds.

Canoe Trip

Each summer for the past four years, we have been venturing forth on an intergenerational canoe trip. Last year we rocketed down the Crystal River in Waupaca. This year we may be headed there again! Watch the News Menu and the Good News Newsletter for details about his year's trip...

Mission Trips

We take our faith on the road to learn about the struggle of people to find food, health care, housing, and education for their families. In 2009, 19 of us headed for the Wind River Indian Reservation for a Youth Works led Mission Trip experience.

In 2010, 23 of us journeyed to New York City to serve at mission sites organized by Seafarer's and International House but also, obviously, to take in the historical and cultural sites of one of the most amazing cities in the world.

In 2011, 18 of us headed south to New Orleans to serve the community there through building houses, working in food pantries, and various other manual labor activities. In 2012 it will be Washington DC.
